Turnkey System
ABC Coke selected SEECO to design and install a
turnkey system. SEECO designed and built the system with a minimum
of customer-provided specifications. The turnkey project included
all foundations, structural steel, piping, electrical, and instrumentation.
Even the power building to house the equipment, including the water
cooled condensers on the roof, was SEECO's responsibility.
The system runs 24 hours a day, generating around
90 percent of the plant's electrical energy needs. This amounts
to a savings, on an annual basis, of more than $750,000. In addition,
excess electricity produced by the system, primarily from the nighttime
generation period, is sold to the local utility, producing even
more savings.
According to Mike Osburn, manager boilers and power
generation for ABC, the system has proven itself to be well-running
and a significant contributor to the plant's economic performance.

SEECO's
turnkey installation included the following elements, clockwise
starting from 12 o'clock: cooling towers located on top of the
power building (also SEECO's responsibility), low voltage motor
control panel, condenser circulation pumps, high voltage power
distribution and utility tie breaker, condenser hot well and condensate
return pumps, and generator control panel.
