This system is used in mining applications for belt conveyors. It is used on a belt storage winch and on a belt take-up winch which tensions the conveyor belt. It's function is to apply a constant torque to the winch drive mechanism over a variable speed range, including full torque and zero speed.

It features closed-loop flux vector control, adjustable torque limits, motor overload protection, dynamic braking, and auto-tune capabilities. A keypad/display unit allows service personnel to access tuning parameters and fault information. The unit shown is for use on 480 V, 3-phase, 60 Hz supply and controls a 125 hp AC motor.
